How to Make Chocolate-covered Strawberries

  • To make chocolate-glazed strawberries, first wash the fruits and gently dry them with a paper towel. The strawberries must be dry so the dark chocolate can adhere to the surface of the fruit without any problems.
  • Chop the chocolate into pieces and then pour water into a saucepan and place it on the stove. In another smaller saucepan, put half of the chopped chocolate and place it inside the other saucepan to melt the chocolate in a bain-marie.
  • Once it has melted well, remove from the stove and add the melted chocolate to the chopped chocolate, stirring slowly so as not to incorporate air into the chocolate. This step is necessary because it cools the dark chocolate immediately and at the same time brings it to the ideal density to be poured onto the strawberries.
  • Arrange all the strawberries on a rack placed on a tray that will collect the excess chocolate that will drip. Then, using a spoon, pour the melted chocolate onto each strawberry without dipping it. You can cover it all with chocolate or opt for a ribbon or zigzag decoration.
  • Once the strawberries are glazed, place them on the rack so that they can cool down. It will take 10 minutes. Now you can put them in dessert baskets and serve your beautiful dark chocolate-covered strawberries!

Tips

After glazing the strawberries and arranging them on the rack, you can add hazelnut, pistachio or grated coconut granules. You can also separately melt two types of chocolate in a bain-marie, for example, white and dark, and then make alternate stripes of one and the other. Another idea is to pour the two types of chocolate into a small bowl and then use a toothpick to make lines and then dip the strawberries to decorate them with contrasting lines and shades. In short, you can really let your imagination run wild, but remember to only melt half of the chocolate you need and be careful with the temperature, which should not exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), otherwise the strawberries will cook.
